I LOVE, love this sweet girl. She is just precious.
I’m neglecting the blog a bit on purpose while I focus on our new routine and giving my boys the extra attention they need during this transition from a family of four to a family of five.
New babies really don’t need that much. But I wanted to share a few items that I just love!
1. Aden & Anais Muslin – I am a big fan of the swaddle. It re-creates that “womb” feel for a new baby and keeps them from waking themselves up with those involuntary spastic arm movements. I’ve been using them since Henry was born, and just LOVE these beautiful ones that were given to us for Etta. They are also wonderful nursing covers.

2. Chlorine-Free Diapers
I normally use cloth diapers, and adore both Fuzzi Bunz and Bumgenius. However, there is a certain amount of “letting some things go” in those first few weeks of having a new baby that I fully embrace. Cloth diapering, making homemade butter, and adequate sleep are just a few things that fall by the wayside for a while.
I like using cloth wipes and making my own solution, which I’ll post in a few weeks, but for now, I am using pre-made wipes.
So, I LOVE Seventh Generation chlorine-free diapers and wipes. I like knowing that her little body is not being exposed to nasty chemicals. Many, many wipes and diapers contain a lot of nasty ingredients including parabens, phthalates, and propylene glycol! Yucka!

When Hank and I discovered that we were pregnant with Etta, it only took a few seconds to realize that we would soon have two babies as Miles is only 17 months old. So, a good doubles stroller was a must-have for us. I found this one and it perfectly fits the bill. It’s light, compact, and has a ton of different options for positioning the babies. I love that Etta is shaded and that it has a “bassinet” recline so that she can sleep peacefully while we are on the go. We’ve already used it several times and it’s amazing!
4. Rice Socks
These are the cheapest and easiest must-have! You just fill a clean tube sock with uncooked rice and tie the top. Heat in the microwave for 2 minutes and snuggle them in on either side of baby for warmth and positioning. I like to prop my babies up just a tad on one side to keep them from choking if they spit up. We have a little pack & play by our bed where our babies sleep for the first few months, and it works great! Etta doesn’t need them warmed any more, but I’ll continue to use them to prop her up and make her feel secure for a while longer.
live well. be well.
